Cabbage Soup

A tasty cabbage soup prepared with polish sausage. Polish-flavoured dish ideal for rainy evenings. Smile, put some music on and let’s cook.

  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 200g of bacon
  • 350g of kielbasa
  • 1 medium onion,
  • 1 medium carrot
  • 1 small head cabbage + 1 cup of sauerkraut
  • 8 cups of chicken stock
  • 1 large potato
  • salt, pepper, paprika, 2 bay leaves


  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat until shimmering. Add bacon and kielbasa and cook, stirring for about 5 minutes. Add onion and carrot and continue cooking for about 4 minutes. Add cabbage cook about 3 minutes. Add sauerkraut with its juice, chicken stock, salt and pepper.

  2. Bring soup to a boil.  Season to taste with more salt and white pepper as desired. Stir in chopped herbs and serve with bread.
